Berlin CC are Berlin's new Twenty20 champions after beating Viktoria 89 at Körnerplatz.
BCC set 156 for 7 in their 20 overs thanks to a quickfire half century at the start of the innings from Reuben Davies. In the field, BCC never really looked in trouble after Davies and Haseeb Popal picked up early wickets to put Viktoria on the back foot. Only a counter-attacking 57 from Jagroob got Viktoria's total up above 100. In the end, BCC won by a margin of 45 runs.
The win saw BCC go on to represent Berlin in the national Twenty20 championships held last Sunday in Mönchengladbach. The team fared well in the tournament against some good opposition. In wet conditions, Tim Sandner and his team did well to hold North German champions, HSV, to just 165. Unfortunately, BCC came up just short in reply - Reuben Davies' sensational century being a highlight. In their second game, Berlin comfortably defeated the team from Bayern with strong batting again from Reuben (44) and Martin Haynes (80 n.o.) to pick up third place at the tournament.
